About the performers
March 31st, 2010: Mary Radzinski, H Foley, and Pat Barker
February 24th, 2010: James Hesky, Chip Chantry, and Steve Gerben
James Hesky, a Pittsburgh native and South Philly resident, is a regular in the Philadelphia open-mic circuit and can usually be seen four or five nights a week at clubs like the Laff House, Raven Lounge, and TriTone. Growing up the son of two psychologists taught James to diagnose exactly how screwed up he really is. This undesirable talent leads him to use a fair amount of self deprecating humor that makes the audience laugh but feel guilty at the same time.
Chip Chantry is a nationally touring comedian and writer. Based in Philadelphia, he produces and hosts the monthly “Chip Chantry’s One-Man Show (w/ special guests!)”. As a writer, he contributes columns to a variety of comedy blogs. Also an avid reader, Chip is quite smart. He recently read that giraffes can’t swim. Did you know that?
Steve Gerben kicked off his career in Philadelphia when he won the title of Philly’s Phunniest Person from Helium Comedy Club in 2007. In 2008 he won Helium’s College Comedy Competition, and placed 2nd in the Purina Pet Comedy Challenge regionals. Steve’s reputation for being a consistent and crowd pleasing comic has landed him gigs opening for national headlining comedians including Greg Giraldo, Paul Mooney, Frank Caliendo and many others.
January 27th, 2010: Darryl Charles, Kent Haines, and Aaron Hertzog.
Darryl Charles is one of Philadelphia comedy’s rising stars and was a 2009 Philly’s Phunniest semi-finalist. Recent credits include Chip Chantry’s One-Man Show (with Special Guests) and Brendan Kennedy’s Guilty Pleasures. His group Bad Creations was named the winner of last Fall’s Philly Sketchfest’s competition at Helium Comedy Club. He is the host of the Famous International Variety Show, a weekly comedy show Sundays at Copanana (40th and Spruce).
Kent Haines is a rising comedian living in Philadelphia. He has appeared on Comedy Central’s Live at Gotham and performed at the South Beach Comedy Festival. In 2008 he was named Philly’s Phunniest Person by Helium Comedy Club.
Aaron Hertzog began his stand-up comedy career in Philadelphia in 2006 after deciding that the best way to turn his dream of being a comedian into a reality would be to start doing comedy. Drawing material from the everyday moments that make him stop and think “what am I doing?” Aaron realizes that while his thoughts may seem normal to him, others often find the way his brain works hilarious.
In addition to stand-up, Aaron is also a humor writer whose work has been featured in multiple publications both regionally and nationally. In the Philadelphia area Aaron’s writing has been featured in The Temple News where he was a humor columnist for the university’s student newspaper. His columns have also appeared in College Living Magazine and the comedy website ComicVsAudience.com. His writing has also been featured on popular national humor websites CollegeHumor.com and Comedy.com.
In November 2009, Aaron was named one of the 10 Funniest Comedians by Comedy.com. Aaron is the host of “Hey Everybody!”, a monthly stand-up comedy show at the Philly Improv Theater.
