Are you reading Toiling in Obscurity, the blog of local sensation Jaime Fountaine? It’s pretty kick-ass. We’re going to add it to our blog roll as soon as we post this post.

Once or twice a month, Fountaine takes her internet comedy into the 3-dimensional time-space reality via her two regular performance series. One is the aptly named Toiling in Obscurity series. The second, which is coincidentally called “Second Stories”, is the very reason I’m blogging this here blog. Tonight is a very special presentation of Second Stories, where you the audience have more power over the show than you’ve dreamed possible. Could it be?

rantowheelSEXY POSTER FUN TIME SHOW!

It is! Second Stories presents Revenge of the Rant-O-Wheel!

Join Jaime Fountaine and Steve Manheart for a Brief History of the Rant-O-Wheel and a lively demonstration, featuring some of your best-loved local personalities and a chance for YOU, the audience, to participate! Whether you get up and tell a story, or just shout out the weirdest words you can think of (to make it harder for those jerks who volunteer), the show is in your hands!

Tonight, 8pm – that’s like 2 hours from now! The Dive, 947 E. Passyunk, Philadelphia, PA, 19147. And it’s free! Free! FREEEEEEEEE!!!

Jaime hosted this event for October’s PJI Presents: GALA (you can look at pretty pictures from the night here.) While that show was literally seven gallons of fun, tonight promises to be ten or eleven times that.  Why? Well, I’ll be there, which is pretty cool. Also, I hear a rumor that Pat Kelly from the Sixth Borough and at least one-half of Meg and Rob will be there. Which half? Honestly, I’m not sure. I’m just praying that the dividing line is vertical and not horizontal, if you know what I mean. I will be pretty pissed if I show up at the Dive and there are two pairs of lifeless, skinny yet shapely legs. GROSS.

Also, is “Manheart” Steve’s real last name? If so, that is the awesomest moniker we’ve heard since we learned about the existence of child star Max Records.

EDIT: I didn’t know there would be prizes! Congratulations, Meg Favreau! Although everyone who participated was a winner, you were truly the winner, in that more people clapped for your story than for anyone else’s. And we all went home craving a “Red Hamper.”

GALA: More Barrys than the Barrymores

Thanks to all who attended PJI’s GALA! It was a night of comedy, laughs, comedy laughs, jokes, spinning wheels, comedy jokes, and a clown on crutches.

We could write a whole entry about everything that happened at GALA. But as they say, a picture is worth a thousand words- especially when you are the kind of writer that uses the same words over and over. So instead of 20,000 words (19,000 of which are either “comedy” or “butt-noodle”) , here are a bunch ‘o pictures, taken by cameras. Probably.

PJI fan Raisha Price is the first to brave the mighty wrath of the Rant-O-Wheel!

Many entered the Rant-O-Wheel contest, but there could be only one winner. Contestants wove tragic tales of pinkie toes, stealing ceramic horses, and Gary Busey’s real estate bum deal. In the end, no one could deny the tale of a saucy make-out session with Kanye West its day in the sun! Congratulations, Meg Walsh!

We’re gonna let you finish, but Beyonce really deserved to win.

Be on the lookout for more live comedy events from PJI, including an improv show based on Mike Connor’s Travelogues. Until then – happy joking!
